Giving Out Love Like Biscuits at Breakfast 
 
“We have to give out love like biscuits at breakfast,” said Gregg in a text. 
”I’m stealing that,” said I. 
My friend was right. We do have to give out love like biscuits at breakfast. 
Did you know that before I was a Christian, I was a simple kind of Buddhist?
I didn’t have a Buddhist doctrine or god; I just had some actions to take every day. 
It could be summed up in the words “love people.” 
I won’t get into how I then experienced Jesus and realized He embodied all the things that had attracted me to Buddhism in my seeker days. 
Love. 
Here is what I miss about being a Buddhist: simplicity of loving.
Does following Jesus have to be complicated?
Well…it’s a little complicated because there is some doctrine to know. 
There is a way you have to understand the relationship between receiving and giving out. 
We receive freedom in Christ from His loving act towards us. 
We give love because we are learning to be like Him. 
But when love is the only thing, it is easier to remember to do. 
Love is the only thing in Christianity — Love the Lord your God with all your heart, soul, mind, and strength. The whole law is summed up in that and loving your neighbor. (Luke 10:27)
Yes, but you said, “the whole law,” and that is where we can get a little tied up. 
But I’ll go back to love today. It’s the most important thing.
And we need to give it out “like biscuits at breakfast.”
