Merry Christmas

Merry Christmas!

I am thankful for your eyeballs this year. It is an honor that you have given me your attention; I don’t take it lightly.

As we celebrate the birth of Jesus, I am thinking about something I read years ago by the late, great, J.I. Packer.

Discussing the Incarnation of the Son of God, he said, and I’m paraphrasing…

It should not be difficult to believe in…

  • The healings that Jesus performed
  • That He walked on water
  • That He raised the dead
  • That He turned water into wine
  • That He commanded the storm to be still
  • Or even that He rose from the dead after dying for us on the cross.

None of those things is challenging to believe if….

You can swallow the unthinkable fact that the God of the Universe “became flesh and dwelt among us” (Jn 1:14)!

If you believe in the Incarnation of Christ, anything is possible.

I agree – completely!

This is our confession this week. The Word was made flesh and dwelt among us.

Now, think about your life. What makes it hard to believe God?

Do you believe He can save you?

Do you believe He can adopt you as His own child?

Do you believe He can erase your past sins and forgive you?

Do you believe He can heal you?

Do you believe He can change you?

Do you believe He loves you?

Do you believe He likes you?

Do you believe He wants you?

Do you believe He is coming back for you?

Do you believe He can heal you?

Do you believe He is willing?

Do you believe He has sent His Holy Spirit to help and comfort you?

Do you believe His Spirit will empower you?

Do you believe He loves for you to abide in Him?

Do you believe He loves to answer prayer?

Do you believe He cares for you and will take on your burdens?

All these things are true according to the Bible, and none of them are as hard as the incarnation of Christ, born to the virgin and here to save the world and bring peace with the just God of it all. But it’s true! It’s all true!

Let’s play a Christmas game. Pick one of these and respond in the comments with at least one verse that backs it up.
